providing parents with the truth about the public education system
Cheating in Class

About

Cheating in Class was created to provide parents and community members with plain language, truthful information about the public education system.

The reality is that poor kids of all races have been and continue to be cheated in the public education system.

  • Poor children are forced to attend the filthiest, worst maintained and often environmentally dangerous buildings.
  • Teachers working in low-income area schools have the lowest levels of education and the fewest years experience.
  • Schools in poor neighborhoods have the highest teacher turnover rates.
  • Poor children are denied access to technology, electives and advanced classes.
  • Discipline referrals are higher for poor children than those of children from more affluent backgrounds.
  • Schools in poor neighborhoods face the most upheaval because of school restructuring or closure.

The list of disparities goes on…

Parents have the power to change things.  It’s not easy but if parents work together it will be easier.

This site is a tool for bringing parents together and providing them with the information and resources necessary to better advocate for their children.

Please let us know your thoughts, ideas and suggestions on how we can improve this website.
