Fred Locke’s Dream Job

Marshall small school principal Fred Locke showed up at last night’s community meeting to plead with the community to please, please support his dream of a focus school at Marshall.  The crowd overwhelmingly said NO.  They don’t want a small school at Marshall.

Give it up Fred.  Your dream is Marshall’s nightmare.

Anybody else notice that Mr. Locke showed up 90 minutes late? It’s no wonder he’s pushing so hard for a focus option — he doesn’t care about what the community wants, or what they have to say. That much was made crystal clear when he walked in so massively late and pushed his own agenda.

You’re absolutely right!

What about Dave Hamilton? Was he at this meeting? What did he have to say?

From the Marshall meeting the general consensus from a straw poll is as follows:

* Those in favor of keeping the Marshall Campus in its current Three Small School format: 18
* Those in favor of the Marshall Campus being a Comprehensive school with closed transfers: 35.
* Those in favor of the Marshall Campus becoming a Focus School of 400 students (currently undefined in purpose) = 1 (Fred Locke)

Should I construe, then, that Mr. Hamilton was not at the meeting? Because I know he wants the Pauling Academy to continue as a focus option–he said so at the Brewhaha in February. So if he had been there, the number in favor of the Marshall Campus becoming a Focus School would have doubled!

Hamilton wasn’t at the meeting as far as I know but I don’t know what he looks like. Let’s just say that he didn’t arrive late, get everyone’s attention then tell them how wonderful a focus school could be.

How cost effective is a school of one?

Depends on who is giving the cost analysis… In this case, Fred would say that it is a wonderful use of funds!
