Fight Back
I’ve heard several stories of PPS retaliating against employees for speaking out just in the last couple of weeks. I experienced that myself when working in PPS HR department. I’d gone to the superintendent to complain of a hostile work environment and employment discrimination and a few weeks later my position was cut. Imagine that.
People need to fight back. Here are some links that provide information about employee rights:

Why am I not surprised? Any chance that some of these people will go public with their stories?
It’s doubtful, especially at this time of year with budget cuts.
Staff who spoke up might already gotten unassigned. It is difficult to prove retaliation during budget cuts.
Well, the Principal at Pioneer spoke up last year about Joanne Mabbott hiring and placing her friend in a position that caused all sorts of safety issues at Pioneer, she then spoke up against a new plan for Pioneer that was not good for students and was unsafe, within 4 weeks of all of this she was demoted coming out of the bathroom at BESC by Joanne Mabbott. After they got rid of her within a few weeks Joanne hired 2 more people to take Ms. Sibleys’ place that cost double her salary and of course one of the people was Ms. Mabbotts good friend. The same friend she told Ms. Sibley to hire and if she did she could keep her job. She even had the nerve to do it all in writing. But Ms. Sibley who ran an excellent program with over 200 staff was demoted to an assistant principal because she was told she didn’t have any street cred. We will see this one in court.
In 2004 Pamela Settlegood won a $1 million verdict against PPS. She was a SPED teacher who was fired for asking that the law be followed for her students. Here’s a link to the case http://mauralarkins.com/AnswerRemandSettlegoood.html
Yes I spoke to Ms. Sibley about all this, and believe we will be reading about her case. You don’t get to treat people badly, retaliate, black ball them and get away with it. Carole Smith was out for most of the time this happened, but Zeke Smith handled it, that is why it is heading to court.
What? Zeke? Is he licensed for that type of work?
The Project Homeless Manager was laid off after she complained about her treatment by her boss. You will read about her case too. She is on medical leave (for stress, I assume).
